Positive Parent Policy (in conjunction with HRI policy on Parent Conduct)
Equitable Ice-time Policy
24-Hour Notice Policy
Injured/Sick Player Policy
- Parents are encouraged to display positive behaviour and good sportsmanship, and are expected to conduct themselves in a professional manner during all team events (games, practices, team functions).
- Each parent will sign a "contract" at the beginning of the year, which obligates them to conduct themselves in a positive manner at all team events.
- In addition to the consequences that HRI has established for 'offenders', any parent that "breaks" the contract will be required to complete an SHA Speak-Out course at their own expense.
Equitable Ice-time Policy
- Winning is important, but it isn't everything.
- Since every player pays the same amount to play, it is only fair to alot equal ice-time.
- While it may not be possible to ensure identical amounts of ice-time night in and night out, the coaches will make every attempt to provide equitable ice-time.
- The only exceptions to this rule are as follows: Lack of team commitment (ie: missing practices) or poor attitude (ie: negativity towards other teammates, disrespecting coaches/officials etc.) will result in decreased playing time. Punishment will be determined by coaches and players.
24-Hour Notice Policy
- Whenever possible, players/parents are expected to provide at least 24-hours notice in the event of an absent/late player for all team events (games, practices, team functions).
- If a player/parent fails to provide 24-hours notice, the player will be reprimanded according to protocol that will be collectively determined by the coaches and players.
Injured/Sick Player Policy
- We openly discourage our team members from playing while injured or ill. Not only will you prolong your recovery process, but you will also be hurting your teammates - since you cannot be expected to contribute a 100% effort when you are hurt or sick.
- When a player sustains a serious injury on/off the ice, he is responsible for notifying a team official as soon as possible.
- A parent/player must provide a medical note prior to being authorized to resume team activities - ie: doctor's note that clears the player to resume physical activity after a concussion.
